I Let Someone Else Read My Palms
I had my palms read last weekend at the renaissance festival. It was… fine. I told her right away that I also read palms, and that either made her uncomfortable or what I observed was just her demeanor. Either way, it did nothing to put me at ease. I value what I have gleaned from my own palms, but I’m also very invested in what I’m reading, so I went in mostly curious about what would stand out to another palmist, and only directed her to my life line and how it differs on each hand. She only reads the dominant hand. That’s alright, we all have our own approach.
A lot of what she read was accurate to me, though she spent maybe 10 minutes with me, so she didn’t go in depth on anything. She read some things that I don’t read (marriage and child lines for example). She told me that I’m very intuitive, that I’ll have one child and two grandchildren, that I lead from my heart more than my head. I silently disagreed when she told me that I have two life lines on my right hand. I read one life line and one line of Mars. Still, I was trying to be open to what she intuited. I’ve seen the booth year after year offering tarot and palm readings. A lot of intuitives utilize multiple mediums and someone has to be at the booth all day every weekend for two months, so hopefully that someone is pretty good or at the very least pretty dedicated.
Perhaps she is very dedicated. I’m honestly not sure she even told me her name, so I still know virtually nothing about her, but I know that she and I approach our readings very differently. I say this because of how the reading ended. She ended with money. She said security won’t ever be a real issue but she does see issues with the flow of money. I know she’s right, I don’t do a good job of receiving or charging what I’m worth. I never have. So I asked her if my palm gave her any clues on how to work through that pattern. She did not have an answer. She thought it was more of a tarot question. I didn’t push. I paid her and I left. But I have thought about it repeatedly.
It is lovely to get a chart or palm reading and feel seen, but I don’t think it’s enough. Our lives are fluid. Our fate is fluid. If I see something in someone that is blocking their intuition, limiting their potential, or creating stress in their life, I’m going to look for strengths they can rely on and clues for how they can overcome these various obstacles.
I’ve been very fortunate in the past in that I have gotten what I wanted out of most readings. This was a lesson to me to go in knowing what I want, and ask if it is something the reader can provide. I would recommend this approach to anyone trying to select a reading/reader whether it’s tarot, astrology, tea, or palms.
